A unique memento mori watch

This is the most accurate wristwatch you can buy.

The metal hour hand reads "remember", the minute hand "you will die".

The dial and rim of the glass are mirrored, so when you look at your wrist, you see yourself in the watch face. (This is so that there is no ambiguity about who the message is aimed at!)

The Accurate is a link to the tradition of the memento mori - an object designed to remind us that life is brief and that we should seize the moment while we are here.

The design is also a play on the notion of accuracy in time keeping - this watch is accurate in a rather more fundamental sense than the traditional horological measures...

The inspiration

This is one of the original designs that I created for a series of watches back in 2005. Those watches were one-off pieces, designed for an exhibition exploring our relationship to technology.

Following the exhibition I produced a small edition of watches that people could buy, as opposed to looking at them in a glass cabinet, of which The Accurate was one.

The initial series was released in 2007 and each watch was produced in a 100 piece edition. The Accurate sold out in a matter of months (which was tremendously exciting - I’d expected it would take years).

As people kept asking to buy this design I updated it and it became the first watch reissued into our Permanent Collection.

The Accurate is the great survivor of our lineup - it’s been part of Mr Jones Watches right from the very start. Over the years it has been available in a whole range of different sizes and styles.

What’s remained consistent through all these changes is the central message of the watch: that we should all enjoy life while we can.

We aim to dispatch all orders within 1-2 working days.

When your order is dispatched, your tracking details will be updated.

If you have opted for a custom engraving please allow an additional 1-2 working days.

If you are purchasing during a sale or a limited edition release - you can expect an email update with an estimated dispatch date if there any changes to the timeframe.

A majority of orders are now dispatched from our EU site, meaning there should be no additional fees to pay upon import.

For any orders shipped from the UK, duties and taxes will be prepaid by us. Please do get in touch if you have any issues with the import process.

This means, the price you pay when you checkout is the full price and you will not have to pay any extra charges.

These delivery times are a guide based on the UPS terms of service, products may, in some unusual cases take longer to arrive. If this happens, please get in touch.

Return your watch for an exchange

We are happy to exchange unworn watches, you'll just need to email us ahead of time to ensure the watch you'd like instead is available.

Fastening the watch will cause damage to the leather. If this is the case, we charge for the watch strap (or we can put the worn strap on the exchanged watch for free).

Please email us directly if you think your watch is faulty, our team will be happy to arrange a repair or replacement for you.

Return your watch for a refund

If you change your mind, you have 30 days to return your watch for a refund.

If you purchased your watch in-store, we can offer an exchange or store credit only. This is because you’ve seen the watch in person and had the opportunity to try it on. Please let us know if you’re purchasing as a gift.

To return an unwanted watch, please follow the instructions below.

1) Request your return label here.

2) Once issued, print it off and stick it to your original packaging.

3) Take it to your nearest DHL drop off point.

If you no longer have your original packaging, please ensure your watch is securely wrapped in bubble wrap / something similar to protect it in transit.

Please note: we do not cover shipping costs for unwanted items, returned from outside of the UK. If you are returning a watch that is faulty we may be able to cover shipping costs if your watch is within warranty, please contact us ahead of sending in this instance.
