Behind the scenes: Starcatcher

Jun 18, 2026by Emily Weston

Last week we released our first Swiss Mechanical limited edition of 2026… and you loved it!

Loved it so much that it sold out in around 5 hours…(deepest commiserations if you missed it).
When artist, and extremely talented assembly technician, Eleanor Ross first began designing Starcatcher, she knew she wanted to create more than a watch.

"I want the watch to feel like an escape for those who wear it," she explains. "An opportunity to enter a dreamlike land, away from the stress of everyday life."

Drawing Starcatcher artwork

Inspired by the old fables and folklore she grew up with, Eleanor imagined a magical woodland inhabited by three wandering hares. Their journey across the dial was influenced by the ancient Three Hares motif, a symbol associated with interconnectedness, eternity and the endless cycles of life.

As the design evolved, it became intertwined with the witch-hare folklore of Dartmoor and Devon, where hares have long occupied a curious place in local mythology. Hares were once believed to move between worlds, slipping unseen through moonlit forests and mist-covered moors.

At the centre of the story is a sleeping hare.

Hidden on the case back, this resting figure became the foundation of the entire concept.

Eleanor's artwork often explores sleeping figures, imagined worlds and moments of stillness, and she loved the idea that the woodland scene on the dial could be the dream of the hare resting on the reverse.

The result is a watch with two connected narratives speaking to one another: turn it over and you discover the dreamer; turn it back and you see the dream itself unfolding beneath a sky full of stars.

Bringing that dreamscape to life required careful attention to detail. The golden stars scattered across the dial are individually gilded with 22-carat gold leaf, chosen to create subtle flashes of light as the watch catches the sun.

Against the darker woodland backdrop, the gold helps reinforce the feeling of stars glowing within the night sky.

Inside the watch beats a Swiss-made Sellita SW200 automatic movement. Powered by your movement, the mechanism provides a fitting counterpart to the story on the dial: a watch inspired by folklore and dreams, brought to life by motion.

To really immerse herself in the making of her design, Eleanor assembled every single Starcatcher watch herself!

"The old fables and folklore I grew up with have always stayed with me," she says. "I wanted to create a watch that ignites the child-like wonder inside the wearer — the one that never really disappears."

Part artwork, part story and part timepiece, Starcatcher invites you into an enchanting world where stars can be gathered, forests feel alive and a sleeping hare quietly dreams an entire universe into existence.

If you missed out on Starcatcher, you can sign up to the waiting list here and be the first to be notified of its return…
