Mispoes! is a playful reminder of the English idiom ‘a game of cat and mouse’.

This charming watch design was created by Belgian Artist Kaat Deceuninck.

Mispoes! in Dutch means literally “you missed, cat!” and is a phrase used when someone misses a catch or throwing something at the bin.

The cat and mouse are locked in an endless pursuit, with the cat never quite fast enough to trap the mouse - mispoes!

Like the game, time often feels elusive: we can get caught up in a cycle of trying to catch up on lost time, instead of enjoying the moment.

How to read the time

The time is cleverly integrated within the design:

To find the hour, you'll need to check the position of the cat’s paw
The position of the mouse shows you the minutes.

Kaat explains her inspiration behind the design:

I often find myself watching my cat play with his toys, although it’s really engrossing to watch, afterwards I always feel like I’ve wasted my time.

With this design I wanted to tell a story that is relatable and easy to understand.

In this case something that everyone can relate to: to see the world through the cat’s eyes means we can understand that no time is ever really wasted - we just need to fully live every moment!

Kaat Deceuninck is an art student from Belgium. So far she has explored different disciplines: illustration, animation, interior design, graphic design, textile design and drawing.

It is through her teacher Kristof Devos, the designer of Mr Jones Watches’ most popular watch A perfectly useless afternoon, that she came across the brand.

Her illustrations are characterised by simplicity, minimalism, playfulness and a thoughtful use of colour.

A majority of orders are now dispatched from our EU site, meaning there should be no additional fees to pay upon import.

For any orders shipped from the UK, duties and taxes will be prepaid by us. Please do get in touch if you have any issues with the import process.

This means, the price you pay when you checkout is the full price and you will not have to pay any extra charges.

These delivery times are a guide based on the UPS terms of service, products may, in some unusual cases take longer to arrive. If this happens, please get in touch.

Return your watch for an exchange

We are happy to exchange unworn watches.

Fastening the watch will cause damage to the leather. If this is the case, we charge for the watch strap (or we can put the worn strap on the exchanged watch for free).

Please email us directly if you think your watch is faulty, our team will be happy to arrange a repair or replacement for you.

Return your watch for a refund

If you change your mind, you have 30 days to return your watch for a refund.

If you purchased your watch in-store, we can offer an exchange or store credit only. This is because you’ve seen the watch in person and had the opportunity to try it on. Please let us know if you’re purchasing as a gift.
