The Ascendent

Celebrate your journey, with The Ascendent watch.

Designed by gilding artist Marion Labbez, The Ascendent was created as a celebration of the challenges we all face to scale our personal mountains.

On the face of the watch a mountain shimmers on the horizon, appearing both near enough to touch and also impossibly beyond our grasp.

This sophisticated and elegant design was created with gilded palladium applied in different ways to achieve two different textures.

The Ascendent was made by us in London. Each watch glass was printed and gilded one at a time, by hand; before being assembled in turn by our small and talented team.

Marion explains her inspiration:

"I designed this watch to be a hopeful visual invitation to look forward. Explore, discover, climb, travel: experience the world around you. Never look down, the only way is up and the journey is fulfilling."

This design completes a set of four watches which Marion has produced, each of which embody a different element. In this series, The Ascendent is the element of earth.

It is also powered by an automatic mechanical movement, which means you'll never need to replace the battery. Instead, this unique watch is powered by your movement.

This is a re-issue of the limited edition watch, the colour palette and gilding in the design have been slightly changed to distinguish it from the limited version.

How to read the time:

You'll find the hours in the tree (the watch has a jump-hour movement, so on a new hour, it will flip to the next number - blink and you'll miss it!)

The minutes are represented by groups of stars as follows:To read the minute, you look at the grouping, based on the key above and see how close to the horizon line they are.

If the stars are on the line, then it's exactly that time past the hour; slightly above the line means subtract a minute or two and slightly below the line means add on a minute or two - see example below or watch the video here.
