This is a special edition of our most popular watch: A perfectly useless afternoon.

This new design was created by Kristof Devos as a complement to his original design - moving the scene to the night time.

The character relaxing in the pool was created to inspire you to relax and understand that time spent doing nothing is time well spent.

The time is easy to read, if you know where to look:

  • The figure’s stretched out leg points to the hour
  • The tiny plastic ball floats around shows you the minutes.

Kristof explains his inspiration for the design:

“A couple of years ago, I read a quote by Chinese writer, translator, linguist and philosopher Lin Yutang, that I’ve kept close to my heart ever since:

'If you can spend a perfectly useless afternoon in a perfectly useless manner, you have learnt how to live'.

This quote led to the design of the ‘A perfectly useless afternoon’ watch that was first released by Mr Jones Watches back in the summer of 2019.

It has been a great pleasure to work on ‘A perfectly useless evening’, a special edition of that timepiece.

This new watch imagines what it would look like if the central figure had never left the pool enjoying their useless afternoon and stayed there the entire evening, to endlessly stretch that relaxing feeling.

When I look at my wrist wearing this watch, I always wish I was there...

A perfectly useless evening was made by us here in London, each layer of the design was printed individually, before being hand-assembled by our talented, small team.

    We now include all duties and taxes in the price of your watch.

    This means, the price you pay when you checkout is the full price and you will not have to pay any extra charges.


    Shipping to Germany: please note due to new legislation in Germany we are no longer able to pre-pay import fees.

    This means we will reimburse you after you have paid the bill. To do this we will need: your proof of import fee payment, your full name (of bank account holder), your BIC and IBAN numbers.

    Shipping guide for t-shirts: 

    All t-shirts are printed by us and shipped from our workshop in London. This means if you place an order for both a watch and t-shirt(s), they will be shipped together via DHL. Delivery times for these can be found on our shipping guide here.

    If you order a t-shirt without a watch, it will be shipped via a Royal Mail tracked service which usually takes a little longer. You can see an estimated timescale when you input your address at the checkout.

    Free Royal Mail shipping, 3-7 working days (depending on location)


    These delivery times are a guide based on the DHL and Royal Mail terms of service, products may, in some unusual cases take longer to arrive. If this happens, please get in touch.
