A watch to inspire you to have fun with your time
In homage to the fearless Captain Nemo, the Vingt Mille watch shows the dramatic attack of the giant squid from 20,000 leagues under the sea ("Vingt mille lieues sous les mers" in the original title).
The endless battle between squid and man depicts the time, from hour to hour each appears to be gaining the upper hand.
The two men being held by the squid indicate the hours and minutes.
Vingt Mille was designed for Mr Jones Watches by award-winning designer and illustrator Fanny Shorter. She created the original artwork in pen and ink and we reduced it down to the micro scale of the watch face.
Fanny Shorter is a designer and printmaker. She grew up in the quintessentially English county town of Winchester, surrounded by historic architecture and idyllic countryside. Her upbringing formed an enduring influence on her designs and how her work is manufactured.
Fanny originally trained as an illustrator at Brighton University. In 2011 she established her eponymous range of textiles, prints and accessories from her studio at Cockpit Arts in London.
